We all have listened about the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra. In one of my blogs i have discussed about importance of chanting Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra in detail.
There is a Story of the origin of Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, which is associated with the grace of Lord Mahakal. it is also known as Tryambakam Mantra. It addresses the Rudra avatar of Lord Shiva. It is also the great death-victory mantra, the famous and proven verse from the Rigveda. This mantra is known as dead Sanjeevani.
Origin Story Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra
We all know about Maha mrityunjaya Mantra. There is story associated with origine of this mantra that we found in Markanndeya purana.
Markandeya Rishi, Who is the producer of Maha mrityunjaya Mantra was son of Markand rishi. As after the birth of son Markand Rishi asked about the future of child from an astrologer. Astrologer told him that the child has age of only 12 years.
When Markandeya was 5-7 years old, his father told him about his young age. To free him from the fear of death rishi markand give him mantra of lord shiv and told him that only shiv can save him om fear of death. Then the boy Markandeya started worshiping Shiva by sitting in the Shiva temple. At the day of markandeya's death, The messangers of lord of death Yamraj came. Because of the power of the shiv mantra the messangers were not able to even touch the child. They went back. The yamraj himself came to collect the soul of boy. Seeing yamraja the boy Markandya got scarred and started crying hugging shivling and chanting Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra loudly.
At the same time, Lord Shiva himself appeared. He got angry and said to Yamraj- how did you even think of punishing the devotee sitting in my shelter?
On this, Yamraj said – Lord, I am sorry and went from there. T
In this way, there is a story of the origin of this mantra, which is associated with the grace of Lord Mahakal.
